The Tagliamento river
The “Tagliamento” is one of the last alpine rivers with braided channels.
It is mostly a torrential stream and in the Ragogna area, there is a wide, dry and pebbly riverbank which becomes a vast beach for sunbathing in the summer months, with clear and refreshing water for bathing.
The numerous branches of the river offer the possibility to go canoeing in a natural and unspoiled setting, enjoying the experience in complete safety.
The view of the sunset in the evening is enhanced by warm colors and reflections.
Ragogna lake
Surrounded by woods, bulrushes, raised bogs and wet meadows, this lake is essential to the local fauna especially for bird migrations.
It’s a great place for bird-watchers. The fish species are particularly rich as well - European chubby, lynx, pike perch and common fish all live in these waters. Just north of the lake, there is an ancient Jewish cemetery.
Ragogna mountain
The Ragogna mountain, which is 512 meters above sea level, has many paths which are ideal for mountain biking and trekking lovers.
The most important paths for excursionists are the CAI (Italian Alpine Club) and the World War trails that guide adventurers through the most important fortifications from World War I. Near the Tagliamento River, built on a ridge, there are the ancient ruins of San Pietro’s Castle.
